it is because this delay time gets larger. that is why Tobirama said FTG with clones is slower. so even if warping itself seems instantaneous, the chakra manipulation and build-up for the Jutsu aren't exactly instant. there is a tiny delay time after the user invokes the Jutsu and before the Jutsu kicks in and the user actually disappears. part of the confusion comes from the belief that FTG is instant and has no delay time whatsoever which is false. all that wouldn't make sense if Minato "reacted, called FTG and teleported all mid-Kamui's wrapping" as many people like to believe. later, Obito was so sure of winning when he was about to touch Minato again. Minato himself acknowledges this fact and states whoever uses his Jutsu a split second faster would win (or it would be over for one of them in an instant). he doesn't mean he would make the warping itself faster as he wasn't shown to control that rather he meant he would just invoke it faster as soon as they touch (before Minato invokes his own teleportation) instead of wasting time sending words as he did). that is why Obito states he would take him a lot quicker the next time as soon as they touch. but the truth is, Minato had actually invoked his teleportation before Obito even invokes Kamui which is why he could successfully teleport in time before he gets absorbed. when Obito tried to warp Minato the first time, it is widely believed that Minato reacted, used FTG, and teleported all mid-Kamui's warping. There is something that I think is widely misunderstood so I thought to make a post explaining it.
